Along with a pretty great win in basketball today, Michigan gained two commitments in football. The first was from Davion Rodgers, a 3* OLB prospect from Warren Ohio (teammate of '10 commit DJ Williamson).Rodgers was previously committed to West Virginia, but decided to take a visit to Michigan and fell in love with the school, and committed on the spot. He's a pretty big player at 6"6, 205 lbs, and is destined to play the "quick" LB/DE position.
With a lot of bodies in front of him in this 2010 class, Rodgers should be able to redshirt, but he's got solid speed and good athleticism, so he could be a good one in the future.
Rodgers also had offers from West Virginia and Michigan State.
In 2011 news, Cass Tech CB Delonte Hollowell made his commitment to Michigan official. Last week at the All-American combine Hollowell mentioned that he'd "probably commit to Michigan soon" and here is. Hollowell plays a position of need at cornerback, and even though the '10 haul in the defensive backfield is big, the staff still needs to get some solid players back there.
Hollowell, like Cissoko and Dior Mathis before him, doesn't have great size (5"8, 165 lbs), and great speed (4.66 combine time last year) but he's quite physical and played very well at the combine last week. He should be able to redshirt his freshman year and hopefully contribute by his sophomore or junior year.
Great day to be a wolverine!
