Jonathan Hankins to announce tomorrow

Jonathan Hankins, who's been the subject of much chatter all over Michigan's premium boards the past few months, plans to announce his college decision tomorrow, at halftime of his high school's basketball game.

Hankins is a 3-star Defensive Tackle prospect - the only true nose tackle prospect Michigan had any shot at this year. He was a Wolverine fan growing up, but didn't earn an offer at their camp because he had a bad ankle and was out of shape. The staff wanted to watch him live and evaluate his film, and that's exactly what they did. Once they decided he was a solid prospect, they offered him a scholarship.

This delay let Ohio State, Florida, and Oklahoma - teams with plenty of defensive tackle depth that could take a chance on him - jump on the bandwagon, though it appears his ultimate destination is Ohio State. Normally Hankins probably wouldn't be a huge prospect, but Michigan has 2 (!) true nose tackles- senior Renaldo Sagesse and sophomore William Campbell. And in what's considered a "down year" for defensive tackles, I hate to say he was a must-get, but he probably would've helped.

Still, you never know, NSD is still a month away. He could change his decision.
